Birmingham to London

“In London, everyone is different, and that means anyone can fit in.”

LONDON !!!!!! Everyone loves London, right ? I didn’t spend more than an afternoon here so I did more of the traditional tourist things. Truthfully, I enjoyed the experience, although I wasn’t as excited by it, take my opinion with a grain of salt, Im not a city person.  For those of you that LOVE city life, London is AMAZING, city person or not.

I took the train from the BHX airport and got on the London Euston line which was a 1.5 hour train ride to get into the city. From there everything is walkable if you like to walk. I traveled this city completely SOLO DOLO, met a cool Syrian dude, we spent some time together, he was rad.

Get an Oyster card if you plan to use the public transportation

London, like most major cities can be a bit over priced.  I recommend getting an Oyster card if you plan to use the public transportation, the prepaid card will get you a big discount on each metro ride. If you plan on using the tube or the bus often, get this card! Uber is always an option, but the cabs tend to be a bit more over priced.

Watch the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace, its free

Also, take a trip by Buckingham Palace and watch the changing of the guards, it’s truly an experience. Beginning at 11:30am and free99 to watch! The ceremony lasts about 45 minutes on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, as long as its sunshine and rainbows(weather permitting).

Sign up for a free walking tour

Sign up for a free walking tour, I toured myself to see all the main attractions, but I recommend this option since the guides are locals. I personally went to Big Ben which, unfortunately was under construction at the time, the London Eye, London Bridge, and Buckingham Palace.

The city offers multiple museums and cathedrals that you can tour during your time in the city, and the best part is, THEY’RE FREE. Some of the museums include,  British Museum, National Gallery, Natural History Museum, Science Museum, the British Library, and more. You can learn all about the British culture without spending a penny, I mean what more can you ask for if you’re interested in culture?

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to explore the nightlife and much of the restaurant and bar scene. If you want to check out some information on nightlife check out @itsallbee and her amazing blog on London nightlife areas.
